Beetles and Bugs. A new set of stock photos by Kelly Newman There are significant differences between Beetles Coleoptera. and Bugs Hemiptera. Beetles mouthpieces are designed for chewing and they feed on a wide range of plant and animal material whereas Bugs mouthpieces are formed as a piercing instrument and eat mainly liquids from plants & animal fluids. Beetles differ by having hard leathery wings which fold away when not in use Bugs have membranous/partially thickened wings. View more stock photography from Kelly Newman here.
