Tigers Nest monastery in Bhutan. A new set of stock photos by Heather Farish Tiger's Nest Monastery or Taktshang Goemba, or Paro Taktsang, is one of the symbols of Bhutan. Located in the Paro Valley, not far from the international airport, was originally built in 1692 but has had to be rebuilt after a fire destroyed it in 1998. This Himalayan Buddhist temple complex involves a trek up the mountainside to reach it, although part of the trek can be made on horseback if so desired .
