Wild Horses of Assateague. A new set of stock photos by Ernie Hunter Horses roam free on Assateague State Park in Maryland. Breeding is controlled by the park rangers to keep the herd manageable for the environment. This day a tornado warning was out. Winds where high and blowing sand was making it very hard to see at times. To these horses it's all normal and life goes on. No one is allowed to feed or touch the horses. They are wild. A vet checks the herd for any problems and gives the mares a injection, by dart, to control pregnancy. Horses are left alone. View more stock photography from Ernie Hunter here.
