New Stock Images of Common Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca)

Common Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca). A new set of stock photos by Ernie Hunter Common Milkweed is a native perennial plant growing in fields and pastures, abandoned fields, vacant lots, fence rows and roadsides. The fragrant flowers are grouped in several spherical umbels with numerous flowers in each umbel. Attempts to exploit rubber from the milky sap, a form of Latex, and fiber from the seeds floss have failed. The seed pods, when mature, split open allowing the seeds to blow on the wind. The caterpillars of Monarch Butterflies and various beetles feed on this plant. View more stock photography from Ernie Hunter here.
