Sir John A MacDonald Canada's Frist Prime Minister. A new set of stock photos by Ernie Hunter Sir John A MacDonald 1815 - 1891 was a delegate to the Intercolonial Conferences of 1864 - 1867 at which the basis was laid for the Federal Union of the British North American Provinces in a new nation. He was called the Father of Confederation and was the First Prime Minister of Canada. He promoted the westward expansion of the railroad making it Transcontinental. He was a visionary statesman, a Conservative partisan and a much loved leader for a quarter of a century. He died June 6 1891. View more stock photography from Ernie Hunter here.
