New Photo Stock Images of Praying Mantis

Praying Mantis. A new set of stock photos by Ernie Hunter The Praying Mantis has huge compound eyes mounted on the triangular, almost alien-like head. The ability to turn their head 180 degrees gives them excellent vision and hearing. Waiting patiently for many moments when their prey is close enough they grab with lightning speed, clamping it in vice-like front legs and eating it alive. Females will sometimes eat the Male after mating. Females lay eggs in an ootheca egg mass in fall and they hatch in the following spring. Food is usually small insects.
