New Photo Stock Images of Field Mushroom, Agaricus campestris

Field Mushroom, Agaricus campestris. A new set of stock photos by Ernie Hunter Field Mushroom a basidiomycete fungus found most commonly in meadows grazed by horses and cattle also on lawns after rain from late summer through autumn. Related to domestic white button mushrooms sold in stores. They reproduce via spores. Young mushrooms have pink gills and are protected by a veil. As they mature the veil breaks and the gills turn to chocolate brown. They are very flavourful and are considered a delicacy. They should be cooked as soon as picked but they can be dried.
