Gum Leaf Katydid. A new set of stock photos by Kelly Newman The Gum Leaf Katydid is from the cricket family and usually reside in a forest. Very well camouflaged on the new growth of the eucalypt tree but when I went back a week later found it on the same branch but minus a hind leg. As the days passed I kept looking for it and finally found it shedding its skin. Katydids consume their discarded skins in the hope that predators can't find them afterwards.
