Culloden Moor. A new set of stock photos by Michaela Perryman The Battle of Culloden was the final confrontation of the 1745 Jacobite Rising. Taking place on 16 April 1746, the battle pitted the Jacobite forces of Charles Edward Stuart against an army loyal to the British government. Today, a visitor centre is located near the site of the battle first opened in December 2007, with the intention of preserving the battlefield in a condition similar to how it was on 16 April 1746.
