<p>Davis Lock Station 38 on the Rideau. A new collection of stock images from Ernie Hunter. In 1818, Walter Davis Jr, built a saw mill on the rapids between Opinicon and Sand lakes. Colonel John By bought him out in 1829 in order to build the lock on the site of the mill. Stone, again, was cut and brought to the site from Elgin some six miles away.
