<p>Davis Lock Station 38 on the Rideau. A new collection of stock images from Ernie Hunter. In 1818, Walter Davis Jr, built a saw mill on the rapids between Opinicon and Sand lakes. Colonel John By bought him out in 1829 in order to build the lock on the site of the mill. Stone, again, was cut and brought to the site from Elgin some six miles away. A Rubble dam and waste Weir was needed to control the water level of Opinicon Lake. The Weir was to be built on the site of the Davis mill, s...
