HMAS Sydney Memorial Geraldton Western Australia. A new set of stock photos by Rodney Garnett A memorial to HMAS Sydney II sunk off the Western Australian coast in November 1941 by the German HSK Kormoran sits on the top of Mount Scott within the city of Geraldton. The Memorial is the work of world-renowned sculptors Joan Walsh Smith and Charles Smith. Central to the memorial is a dome of 645 seagulls each representing a life lost.
